This book is all about the deal. Do you win? Why or why not? The author describes how to analyze a deal in very straightforward terms. I wanted the art to reflect the analysis — Win vs Loss — and the colors to be bold and direct. This is a beautiful book. It also won an IPPY award!

This is the second book in a five-part series. The first two books were released and were wildly popular. We then decided to pull all the books together with a unifying design. The next three books (unreleased) were to look similar to the first two titles. This is a retooling of the second cover. The common elements are the “Hyrum Laney” lines at the bottom, the overlapping image (in this case the flag) and the large sans serif title font. The third book is due out mid-2017, the others by end-2017.

This is a memoir about a women who started an escort service in Vegas. We needed to create a cover that drew in the reader, but didn’t turn them off, either. Lots of images, but how do we tell the whole story on the cover without exposing too much.

This tri-fold brochure publicized an annual scientific meeting in Fort Collins. I worked with scientists and organizers to design a brochure that incorporate a scientific feeling as well as highlight Fort Collins. The images came from CSU public relations (free usage if credit given) and scientific literature (the circular structures).
This is an incredibly inspiring book detailing the life of a woman overcoming a childhood accidental burning. At age 9 she was badly burned by a water heater. She dedicates her life to not hiding in the shadows and turns this accident into a vocation to help other girls overcome obstacles. Her camp, Angle Fire, is highly regarded as a premier camp helping girls with self-esteem. Lesia Stockall Cartelli has been featured on Good Morning American and CNN. As a designer I needed a book design that inspired the reader and didn’t overcome the text. The design is simple and classic with a few completely Lesia touches.

This was Sherry Ray’s first book. She is a genius at coaching and motivating people, but she was feeling her way with publishing. I offer as much advice as I can to new authors. There are numerous situations to think about. I was also able to convert this title into a Kindle book that was available before her print book arrived. She was able to move forward with marketing and book sales immediately.
This title has very quick. Two weeks from start to finish for me. The author was incredibly organized and was working under a very tight deadline.

This project evolved from a single idea into a complex series of Kindle releases, web site and webinars. Integrating all the ideas and marketing influences was a trick. How to solve a problem for the book, but leave the door open to other applications like web, Kindle, and Nook.
