Probably the most asked question of any kid on the planet. This books gives examples of what typically takes 5 minutes — skipping stones, watching a butterfly, picking berries, and walking the dog are a few examples.

Buzzing
A children’ book describing what it’s like to be constantly distracted and how to get help. Simple and to the point.
Pumpkin Palooza
For me, working with Peggy Schaedler and Sarah Fris is a dream come true. This is the second book in the series and each one gets better.
Fish Tummy Soup
This is the story of Jonah retold in Dr. Suess-like verse. Elettra Cudignotto, the illustrator, was fantastic to work with. Kids books are tricky — so little space and time to develop the story — and the illustrations and text combined very well.
My Favorite Nightmare
Another Buster Blank book. As I design this book, I try to think of the reader. The goal is to keep them reading and turning pages. I make the type a bit larger and add artwork for a more light hearted feel. I also converted the book into an ebook available on Amazon and Nook.

Madison Cooley’s Shoes
Buster Blank has started a new series for middle school kids. The trick is to get kids to turn the pages and keep reading. As a designer, I created the larger text to “help” kids stay interested, a larger type size and illustrations sprinkled through the text. I expect great things from this author. This is just the beginning!

Lil’ MacDonald Likes to Hike!
This is a fun children’s book. Lots of color, texture and room for creativity. We didn’t have an unlimited budget, so a few steps were taken to make sure the project came in affordable. The imagery was mostly stock. I added colors and texture to add interest. The paw prints and frames give the book a childlike interest. The Fun Facts were established to help break up the text.

Cimarron the Bighorn Sheep
Cimarron illustrates the growth of a bighorn sheep for it’s first year. Each season has it’s own challenges. As a designer, I was pulling text and illustrations for two different sources. Many times the illustrations needed to be slightly altered to accommodate the text. Flowers, birds, rocks, and mountains changed color, size, and shape to allow for more legible text.
