This book is all about the deal. Do you win? Why or why not? The author describes how to analyze a deal in very straightforward terms. I wanted the art to reflect the analysis — Win vs Loss — and the colors to be bold and direct. This is a beautiful book. It also won an IPPY award!

This is the second book in a five-part series. The first two books were released and were wildly popular. We then decided to pull all the books together with a unifying design. The next three books (unreleased) were to look similar to the first two titles. This is a retooling of the second cover. The common elements are the “Hyrum Laney” lines at the bottom, the overlapping image (in this case the flag) and the large sans serif title font. The third book is due out mid-2017, the others by end-2017.

This book centers around the author, Michelle’s, pairing of her romantic interests with her creative baking. She mixes unusual ingredients to mimic the personalities of her suitors. When I was designing the book, I reflected those choices and her creativity in the design. Book release Fall 2016.

I converted this book from a print book to ebook. I love what you can do to enhance an ebook to interact with the reader. Below are a few screen shots from iBooks. I created .epub and .mobi files.
I have a great golf swing because of this book. The author’s John and Paul took my basic swing and made it better. They love this game. When I was designing the book, I tried to show it and their will to improve everyone’s golf swing. Release date Fall 2016.

Grief books, in general, are very hard to work on. I realize I am part of the process of coming to terms with a loss. This book is quiet in design, offering the reader a path to recovery through meditation and self-reflection. I also converted it into an ebook.

This is a motivational book about a 19-year-old entrepreneur. At 19 he has accomplished many things some people spend their entire lives accomplishing. The author states he has a master’s degree from the School of Hard Knocks. From the stories he tells, I believe him. For the design, I kept thinking, “Go big or go home.” The slogan on the left hand pages is a reaccuring theme throughout the book. Meant to inspire. Chapters open with large numbers that extend past the page. The author wants to make an impression and not have the reader get stuck on his youth. Book is due out Spring 2016.

Another Buster Blank book. As I design this book, I try to think of the reader. The goal is to keep them reading and turning pages. I make the type a bit larger and add artwork for a more light hearted feel. I also converted the book into an ebook available on Amazon and Nook.

This book talks about people doing the same thing everyday, but expecting different results. It discusses how to “jump the track” and get moving in a better direction. As a designer, illustrating time is tricky. I used a spiraling “Alice in Wonderland” type clock to give a timeless feel.
